Phyllis Brown
Phyllis

Thousands of Seattle residents every year entrust Phyllis Brown with the care of their clothing. At the Alterations and Reweaving Center, her cozy store at the corner of 45th and Woodlawn in Wallingford, Phyllis has helped clients through crucial job interviews, wedding jitters, and proms.

Many of Phyllis' customers discover her through word-of-mouth. "That makes me feel good," she says. "I want to do an excellent job every time, and I want my customers to be happy." She has customers all over the country.

Phyllis first made sewing her business in 1957, and has been in her current location since 1976. She does acknowledge that fewer and fewer people are learning her particular specialty—reweaving.
